Sounds like such an oxymoron, but it’s how we should be. We should be an optimist in that we focus on the positives, believe the best, hope for the best. We should be defiant in that when trials arise, we refuse to let them defeat us, we refuse to give up, we refuse to lose the battle. When I think of defiance, I think of young children. You can tell them not to do something, and they will look you dead in your eyes and do what you specifically told them not to do. That’s how we must be when opposition arises. Opposition tells you that you will not survive, that you will not make it through. Look opposition dead in its eyes and overcome it, persevere through it. Be optimistic in that your hope is in Jesus, your hope is in knowing that He will bring you through the other side still standing.
