I was reading Jesus Calling this morning and today’s devotional got me thinking about so many times I felt as if my calling was insignificant in comparison to others’ calling. I felt like I wasn’t doing enough for the Kingdom . A lot of times we as Christians compare our callings to others’ callings, which is one thing we should never do. No calling is greater than another. Yes, they are different, but no one calling is greater than another or is more important than another. Every calling is equal but different.
Romans 12: 4-5, “Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.
No where in this scripture does it say that one function is greater or lesser than the other. It says that each of us has a special function not a better function or a insignificant function.
God created each of us with a special function in mind. Each of our callings has one common goal: add to the Kingdom of heaven. So the next time you feel like you aren’t doing enough for the kingdom or your calling is insignificant, remember that what you do is just as important as what someone else is doing for the kingdom. Also, don’t waste your time comparing your calling to someone else’s. That’s how you stir up discontentment and jealousy. Be content with the portion God has given you.
